Royals purchased the contract of 1B Eric Hosmer from Triple-A Omaha. Hosmer is expected to arrive in Kansas City in time for Friday's game and should get his first career major league start. The promising first base prospect has been on an absolute tear at the Triple-A level, sporting a .439/.525/.582 batting line and three home runs through 118 plate
Short term expectations?
Beautiful, Beautiful Family Guy
Lois: You're drunk again.
Peter: No, I'm just exhausted 'cause I've been up all night drinking.
I'm surprised he is up now. if they waited until June 1st then the Royals would have had another year of eligibility right? so why now? I assume Hosmer is full time 1B with Butler DH. so does that mean Betemit is out? I do love that he is up now, picked him up.
Whoever that dude who was saying he was definitely coming up soon should be arriving any minute to pat himself on the back
Expectations have to be tempered in the short term I would think? I can't see him batting higher than 7th or maybe 6th out of the gate, and it seems that some of the other KC bats have been cooling.
I'm literally sweating on whether Hosmer is worth a pickup at the expense of Joe Nathan.
I drafted Nathan as my top closer (insert cringes and points-and-laughs here), so I'm reluctant to cut him, but have pieced together a fantasy bullpen of Andrew Bailey, Kyle Farnsworth, Jordan Walden, Eduardo Sanchez, and Vincente Padilla. With this said, Nathan is probably expendable, but if he has a realistic shot of getting the closer job back, I hate to drop him outright. (PS - This is a "holds" league, too...)
What say you, guys...?

Gordon and Francouer are still pretty hot and Aviles is heating up. I agree he'll probably hit 6th or 7th, but this is the guy who I've recently been hearing is considered the #1 (fantasy) prospect in all of minor league baseball. With any guy like this there's the chance for a rough start or a complete faceplant, but I'd say he's worth a pickup in almost all leagues.
I would cut Nathan for Hosmer. Capps is doing fine and there's no guarantee Nathan closes again this year.

He had plenty of XBH power last year and this year's sample is pretty small. He's hitting .439 so I'd imagine he'll have a lower average, but higher ratio of XBHs in the majors.
For those wondering about why him and not Moustakas, figure they had a need to fill with Kila not producing, and Betemit is producing at 3B (where Mous plays). But I'm sure some KC homers would know more...

It seemed like people were considering Hosmer a better or more major league ready prospect than Moustakas at last check. I think this was per ESPN's Jason Grey.
Edit: Moustakas currently hitting .235 in AAA (4 HRs)
