Razzball.com blog says Hosmer will have these numbers the rest of the season.. .280 AVG, 17 HR, 6 SB lets use that as the over/under. so higher or lower or right about there the rest of the season?

I'd be shocked if he hit 17 hr. I'd put the over under on 12 personally. The other numbers look fine.

I don't think it should have been an easy decision at all. In my mind, absolutely the only reason to make this move right now is that Moore feels the Royals have an outside shot at the playoffs. That's giving him plenty of room to work with to, the Royals don't need a real good or even a 50/50 chance, but something somewhat plausible. Without that then this could turn into a $10m mistake for a little more than a month of service time.
Moore has never really been much of a gambler when it comes to drafting, to trades, or to free agents. That is one reason no one really expected him to be this aggressive with Hosmer's promotion. He is gambling that Frenchy, Betemit, and Gordon are all .800+ OPS guys and that this extremely young bullpen can continue to save the collective butts of the rotation daily without breaking down at some point. The payoff is huge if he is right, but it is hard to realistically believe that a team with 5 below average SP can sustain a .500 record even in the weak AL Central.
One more interesting side-note to the call-up will be interleague games with no DH. It looks pretty apparent the Royals want almost nothing to do with Butler at 1B so if Hosmer can hold his own at the plate the team has a tough choice to make. Both may lose time if they go with a R/L platoon during that stretch.

if we can get an OPS close to .900 to go with that, then
2nd.. since they called him up right now, which I am very surprised about, I would guess that the Royals are putting the Longoria plan in place. Thety probably have a great deal of confidence in him. I would not be surprised to hear about him signing a long-term contract within a month.

Sounds great, but Hosmer has Boras as an agent. Not sure anyone will get over on Boras like the Rays did with Longoria.

well.. I don't know that the rays necessarily got over on Longoria. In hindsight it appears to be a pretty good deal. But that was an awfully big and long contract to give someone before they saw him have a major-league at-bat.
So, with Hosmer officially up, and Butler entrenched at DH, what happens with Betemit, Aviles and Getz? Who is going to get the most consistent playing time?

If it's really dollars and cents here, it's likely the Royals will at least benefit in the short term from the added excitement in higher ticket sales and other areas of revenue?
Either way, I agree Moore had to makes this move. The fact that even he did shows you the little choice he had - winning team (first time in ages), struggling Kila and crazy hot Hosmer in AAA.

The rotation should be similar to what it is now, nothing really has changed other than Hosmer instead of Kila. Getz will likely be the odd man out most of the time with Aviles at 2B and Betemit at 3rd.
