Weaver for Hanley & Mauer

Talking with a fellow (impatient) leaguemate and he is seriously considering giving me Hanley Ramirez and Joe Mauer for Jered Weaver. I'm not sure how much my pitching staff could suffer from this so i'm trying to get your guys' opinion. I also have a quality catcher in Brian McCann but i figure Mauer would be a solid utility man. This is a 8 team, 5x5 head-to-head league

This is the definition of selling high/buying low. It appears this guy is in panic mode and is trying to do anything he can. Like you mentioned your staff doesn't take too huge of a blow, especially considering the bats you get to make up for it. Hanley will heat up, and Mauer will be fine. Anybody ditching those 2 will be smacking themselves later in the year for it. Luckily for you, you found and owner who is suffering from both!

So you think my staff would be fine given the state of Axford, Ubaldo and Latos? Weaver has been the most consistent pitcher on my staff and im worried about what i would lose

Love this deal for you. Weaver is awesome, but getting Hanley and Mauer is an amazing deal, and a great sell high / buy low. You will have great depth with McCann/Mauer and Hanley/Alexei. You will have a lot of options to trade away that depth for more pitching help later. But your pitching will still be decent - I trust that Latos and Ubaldo will come turn it on soon. Love this deal for you.
