Two impressive starts by Vance Worley so far. Yes, I know the first start doesn't count because it was against the Mets, but I'm in the bandwagon.

Even if Worley has two more starts of the same caliber, I doubt he keep his spot on the rotation once Blanton comes back, but Amaro might be more inclined to deal Blanton because of Worley. Next two starts for him are against FLA and ATL on the road. The Marlins have been decent offensively this year, but they are not elite. ATL is middle of the pack in hitting.

At Triple-A this year Worley had four starts with a 1.10WHIP and 9.9K/9 in 22IP. Based on his career numbers, he shouldn't be striking so many people out, but he seems to have good control.

The Worley's Warriors are buying it too.

picked him up for a spot yesterday to make up ground given I had Jerk on my bench the night before. I will hold on to him until he loses his job or crashes back to reality.

Hold onto him in a keeper or a dynasty. Kid is gonna be good for a long time.

Pretty easy schedule lately, but he has not disappointed. Ranked in the top 10 among pitchers over the last 30 days.

So, I keep hearing a lot of Happ comparisons (it isn't far fetched: a rookie pitcher coming up, pitching very well, stoic mound demeanor, and a local darling because of it) and I'm wondering what people think about Worley pulling a Happ and falling into suckitude, or continuing the success and developing into a strong pitcher he appears. I can say that Worley looks better than Happ ever did when I watched Happ. What do you stat smarties have to glean about the Vanimal?

JA Happ was never any good. 2.13 K/BB with a low K rate and allowed too many HR. People saw the low ERA and high win total, and he got too much hype. He stinks, and always has. Worley isn't as good as his ERA or win total suggest either, but he's not garbage like Happ is. 2.67 K/BB, good K-rate, better GB/FB ratio. All around much better than Happ. There's really not much fo a comparison to be made other than both of them out performing their actual talent level.

The funny thing is that Worley is 11-1 with a 2.85 ERA, and probably won't even be a starter in the playoffs.

What are some projections for Worley next year?

I've got him real cheap and can keep him at that price for the next three years, strongly considering keeping him.
