Which 3B or OF to pickup? WHIR

Postby BalancedMan » Wed May 04, 2011 7:02 pm

Because of injuries, my roster has a hole in (Sandoval, Hamilton and Utley all hurt). As a result I have no one manning 3B. I have Bautista who can slide there and open up an OF spot instead. I have a long-term plan which involves picking up Logan Morrison for this roster spot once he's a bit closer to returning...but until then, who do you like to play my open 3B/OF slot?

H2H Daily Lineup 6 Cat (HR, R, RBI, AVG, OBP, SB but I'm punting steals so...)

Casey McGehee
Ryan Roberts
Mike Aviles
Chris Coghlan
Melky Cabrera
Wilson Bettemet
Jack Hannahan
Jason Kubel
Seth Smith
Coco Crisp
Matt LaPorta
Garrett Jones

These names are at the tops of the available players at those two positions. I would go for Roberts if he played everyday, but that doesn't look like it's happening any time soon. In any case, looking for someone to be pretty much an everyday contributor until either Morrison or one of my injured players (probably Hamilton) gets healthy. Who should I throw out there for a bit?

Thanks for the advice. WHIR!

Definitely McGehee from that group. He will pick things up.

I think Seth Smith. His ISO numbers have always been great. Last year he jacked 17 Hrs in limited playing time. He is starting this year and batting nearly .300. He is steady and would make a fine fill in until Logan Morrison returns shortly.

McGehee for sure. He is arguably a top 10 or so 3B. Im not sure how many teams are in your league but based on the names available i would say its pretty shallow. Crisp is a really nice player and will get you steals but if you are punting them I would definitely go for McGhee.

It is pretty shallow...keep in mind though that McGehee is only someone I'm planning to hold until Logan Morrison gets healthy...err that's the plan anyways. And I already have Fielder and Cory Hart, so I'm not sure if I want yet another Brewer on the team. I agree he has the most upside looking at last year's numbers though....
