1st time playing points, need help

Postby WindyCityRanger » Tue May 03, 2011 4:02 pm

First time in a points league, it's H2H. I'm 2-2, but have been lucky with some match-ups, I feel like my team is stacked, but I don't know if my team is just under performing, or if I need to improve somewhere. Any suggestions on who is droppable, and potential replacements would be appreciated

C - Carlos Ruiz
1B - A Gonzalez
2B - Dan Uggla
3B - Jose Bautista
SS - Troy Tulowitski
IF - Casey McGehee
OF - Shane Victorino
OF - Alex Rios
OF - Michael Cuddyer
OF - Jason Kubel
Util - Justin Smoak
BN - Tejada
BN - Johnny Gomes
DL - Delmon Young
DL - Arron Hill

Pitchers: (i've been getting dinged with a lot of negative points lately)
SP: Matt Cain, Ubaldo, Oswalt, Brett Anderson, Kyle McClellan
RP: Hanrahan, Valverde, Madson, Fuentes

C - Carlos Ruiz - Nice C but not a big points-league guy.
1B - A Gonzalez - Will be huge come summer!
2B - Dan Uggla - A slow starter...his power will translate very well to points-leagues
3B - Jose Bautista - Proving last year wasn't a fluke...great option.
SS - Troy Tulowitski - Stud...period.
IF - Casey McGehee - Nice player but I'm not "sold" on him and off to a slow start. With all the 3B injuries out there, you might be able to trade him off for more than he's worth.
OF - Shane Victorino - Decent enough
OF - Alex Rios - A little more valuable in a roto league but if he can get his head out of his butt, should be a solid option
OF - Michael Cuddyer - Position flexibility is nice but an average points-league guy
OF - Jason Kubel - eh
Util - Justin Smoak - Nice upside and solid UTI guy
BN - Tejada - Slow start but decent the last few years. Again, with 3B value shrinking, his value is maintained
BN - Johnny Gomes - Good pop but really cooled-off
DL - Delmon Young - Will start for you before the year's up for sure
DL - Arron Hill - Nice depth...good MI pop

(all in all, I like the roster but I'd try to swing a deal for some pop in that OF)

Pitchers: (i've been getting dinged with a lot of negative points lately)
SP: Matt Cain, Ubaldo, Oswalt, Brett Anderson, Kyle McClellan
RP: Hanrahan, Valverde, Madson, Fuentes

(underachieving arms should be solid in the long-run)
