Hi to all. I'm new to Fantasy Baseball and have my first ever draft today. I've played Fantasy Football for 9 years and Hockey for 2, so am familiar w/different strategies involved. Here's my league info:
8 or 10 team HTH (last position not filled yet)
10 x 11?
C,1B,2B,3B,SS,OF,OF,OF,UTIL,SP,SP,RP,RP,P,P,P,BN,BN,BN,DL
R,H,2B,3B,HR,RBI,SB,K,GIDP,E,AVG,IP,W,L,CG,SV,H,HR,K,ERA,WHIP
We need to field a minimum of 20 IP
I have a couple basic questions:
based on my league scoring, what are good positions to fill up my bench positions with? I assume a couple hitters & a spare pitcher? Is it common to have so many P postitions?
I've noticed that some positions are scarce in players - 2B, C. Is there an advantage to grabbing say, 2 Cs to prevent the opposition from having a stud (or use for trade bait).
With so few teams, I can surmise that the waiver wire should be full of quality players at certain positions -OF and SP?
These may seem very basic questions, but bear with me, I'm a quick study.
Thanks
10X11 is something very big. The very first year I played FB I thought it would be cool to commish a league with my friends, and we had 20 stats possible, but it just got really dumb.
Now we play a 6x6 league and it's a lot easier to track things.

5x5 is the norm. (5 hitting: avg, runs, hr, rbi, steals, and 5 pitching: era, whip, k's, wins, saves).
6x6 is getting more popular though.
10x11 is a lot of catagories.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
Is this a league with your friends, or did you just join one anonymously on Yahoo?
I have a real problem with the amount of catagories. Basically with that many the luck factor is huge - the winner will usually be the luckiest guy rather than the smartest manager. Strategies become pointless.
Since this is your first yr, I would STRONGLY recommend you play 5x5.
I have been playing for a while, and I know Id be completely lost in the type of setup you are about to get into.
