My Adrian Beltre/Kevin Gregg for Ted Lilly/Gio Gonzalez?

Postby Ronniebegood » Tue May 03, 2011 12:30 am

So I've been offered a trade: Ted Lilly and Gio Gonzalez for Adrian Beltre and Kevin Gregg. I'm in a head-to-head league, standard scoring. Trying to get a feel if I'm getting the best players in this deal.

If I accept I think I would pick up a guy like Corey Hart/Nick Markakis or Ian Stewart to replace Beltre and drop Chris Narveson. Think I should do it?

BATTERS:
Matt Wieters, Bal C (Starting to come on)
Jimmy Rollins, Phi SS (If he can stay healthy)
Martin Prado, Atl 2B, 3B, OF (Looks good so far)
Albert Pujols, StL 1B (No need for an explaination)
David Wright, NYM 3B (If he hits more that 20 HR I'll be happy)
Jason Heyward, Atl OF (No Sophomore slump yet)
Justin Upton, Ari OF (looks good so far)
Alex Rios, CWS OF (Is it the toe or does this guy just suck?)
Adrian Beltre, Tex 3B (hitting for power)
Jacoby Ellsbury, Bos OF (heating up)

PITCHERS:
Craig Kimbrel, Atl RP (The kids been good so far)
Drew Storen, Was RP (Another young guy that's been good to me)
Gavin Floyd, CWS SP (Consistent)
Kevin Gregg, Bal RP (Will he lose his job eventually?)
Aroldis Chapman, Cin RP (Will he be the closer by mid season?)
Zach Britton, Bal SP DTD (So far so good, but worried about the walks)
Chris Narveson, Mil RP, SP (Shaky gym)
Bud Norris, Hou SP (Gonna be 10 ten in strikeouts, looking great lately)
Francisco Liriano, Min SP (wtf???)
Alexi Ogando, Tex RP, SP (Solid young pitcher so far... blister go away!)
Mitchell Boggs, StL RP (Who the hell is saving games in STL??)
Scott Baker, Min SP (Hit or miss...keep him?)
Philip Humber, CWS RP, SP [Recent News] (Been very good lately, melt down on the way?)
Phil Hughes*, NYY SP DL15 (Been diagnosed with everything from Ebola to Lou Gehrigs...I think it's in his head or his mechanics)

Thanks for the help on mine. I'd go for it... Gregg is your shakiest closer and I think having Hart available on the WW softens the loss of Beltre. I like both pitchers you're getting and that is definitely your weakness so far... nice team though. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the advice...and yes I would definitely do this. You have Wright which wouldn't make losing Beltre that unbearable and yeah picking up another player would help too, and I'm loving Gio, I generally like any top Oakland pitcher but I think Gio is special...their entire rotation said that Gio has the stuff that should make him the ace of their staff. Lilly is relatively consistent and Gregg is definitely up in the air: enough of a risk to say that you would definitely be the winner in this deal. Hope it works out, good luck!! ;-D

No, I would stand pat. I think losing Beltre is too much to land Lilly, who is only owned in 65% of ESPN leagues right now, and Gio, who is good but still needs to prove himself. Hart will not make up for Beltre.

Should I give Hamilton for Reyes? Please help with this one:

Unless you can get a higher tier pitcher for Beltre straight up, I like this deal. I love Gio, and the loss of Beltre won't kill you. You need the pitching help. Good luck.
