Did some throwing today going to throw off mound in 2 weeks. Is he worth a flyer for this year or let someone else worry about him?

There is a strong possibility he will not be back until August or September, and also a possibility he doesn't pitch at all. In addition, his velocity has declined significantly BEFORE the latest shoulder surgery. He was throwing 88-89 mph on his FB last year and topping out at 90-91. It is not unreasonable to assume these numbers will drop off even further. He isn't the same guy anymore.

From Rotoworld this morning:
Johan Santana (shoulder) made 110 throws on flat ground Monday and reported feeling fine.
"I feel great," the lefty said after the workout. "Obviously, I am not in the position where I can compete right now, but I’m right where I should be. As the medical staff has said, I’m way ahead of everything." Santana is aiming to return to the major leagues in late June or early July.

He is still "complete flier" level right now. I drafted him with my last pick and he is taking up one of my two DL spots currently. I've thought about dropping him a few times for fill-ins with Hill, Furcal, and Freese all hitting the DL but i haven't yet.
If you have a DL spot open I think he's a good speculative add in most leagues. If he's going to take up an extra roster spot I think you could probably risk waiting another month or so. If its not a HTH league I wouldn't consider adding him for a while, since HTH leagues are the only ones that place more emphasis on how your team finishes.
