I forgot what the rule is but I think because the tying run was on-deck, it counts as a save situation. I'm not complaining, Santos has been great for me.

6 pitches, 0.1 IP, K, S

they won by 4...how?

You get a save if you enter the game with the tying run on deck.

Basically this results in the occasional one out save, either with 2 runners on and a 4 run lead or with the bases loaded and a 5 run lead.

If another pitcher allows baserunners, a manager will often go to his closer in this kind of save situation.

Perhaps this was talked about elsewhere at some point but if the pitcher makes an error why would the resulting runs be unearned? Seems if he screws up it should be his fault.

Because he is a fielder when he makes the error, not the pitcher.

yet a wild pitch leading to a run is an earned run. some baseball rules are just stupid.

How is it stupid? A wild pitch is done while pitching, an error is done while fielding. It makes perfect sense.

Was at the game, Lohse actually looked pretty good. I'm not a huge supporter of his but he was throwing strikes for the most part and really pitched very well except for the one inning, and he had a 2-2 count and tried to sneak one by Gaby, who put it into the bullpen. Same thing with Stanton, he threw a 2-0 change that he never should have thrown and Stanton POUNDED it. It didn't help that he couldnt count on his defense, also Descalso is awesome out there. He may not continue to dominate but he should be good enough to start the rest of the season if healthy.
