Don't have any starts today and was almost desperate enough to spot start James McDonald because the Padres step to bat with wiffle ball bats I think. I'll be patient, though. Clayton Richard gets the Pirates later this week @ Petco and the real interesting one I'm looking at is Josh Tomlin @ Oakland, who I'm not really sure how he's doing it...
I'm starting McDonald today against the Padres. They are that bad (although they will probably score 8 today). I'm even considering Karstens tomorrow. Against the Padres in PetCo? Almost anyone is worthy of starting.
I'm rolling with Karstens tomorrow.
If the line was a little closer I'd consider McDonald. He's a +125 underdog, with the silver lining being that there's -120 on Under 7 Total Runs. However, as I said previously, the possibility for absolute implosion is too great for my taste. I'll check the same things for Karstens tomorrow (though he faces Latos, who is 0 - 4 and has to get a Win eventually, right? ).
For the week I'm looking at Spot Start candidates in: Clayton Richard vs Pit Weds, Josh Tomlin @ Oak Weds, Phil Humber @ Sea Thurs, Freddy Garcia @ Det Weds, Chris Capuano vs SF Weds...
also Fatolo Colon gets to show a national audience if hes for real tonight vs Det on ESPN. I might have to flip over from the Giants game a few times to see him in action.
