Every week so far i've lost in batting average and homeruns. What should I do? 12 team H2H
C- Alex Avila 1B- Ryan Howard 2B- Jed Lowrie 3B- Ryan Roberts SS- Hanley Ramirez OF- Ichiro OF- Jay Bruce OF- Sam Fuld Util- Casey McGehee Util- Ian Desmond BN- Neil Walker BN- Carl Crawford BN- Travis Hafner DL- Bloomquist
I'd really like to have consistency, and also would like to have about 2 guys to specialize in SB a couple more on HR and so forth. Just realized that I also do not have Neil Walker any more.
Alright well which players should I target for HR's and who should I give up for them? I know to keep my SB up I'd like to keep Ichiro, Fuld and Desmond.
I look at your lineup and see 4 players that I would safely project to hit 20 HR's so I'm not surprised at all that you're losing HR's every week. I look at your lineup and see 3 players that can hit .300 (and one of them is Crawford) and I only see two others that will hit .280 this year. So I'm not surprised that you have a terrible BA every week. I look at your lineup and see 4 players that should get 30-50 steals each (not counting Crawford) and you should be winning that category by a mile. Which means that you'll probably be losing other categories as a compromise.
The problem is that you really want to win steals each week but the problem is that SB's don't really correlate well any of the other categories. Desmond for example should only be starting at SS since he'll likely end up below avg in BA, HR, R and RBI's. You can't be starting a player like that at UT unless you really think he's going to steal 60 bases (and have a team to compensate for his weaknesses). I prefer to pick players that are good at either BA/OBP and/or HR's and expect to a certain extent that R/RBI's will happen. And as far as SB's I just hope for the best but I'm okay giving that category away.
What should you do? Jettison Fuld and Roberts for a couple of Luke Scott types or even Matt Joyce. start Crawford and hope for the best since he is a stud. Platoon Scott/Joyce/FA with Hafner whenever they have the pitching advantage. For example 3 LHB'ers for 2 spots and start whichever two is starting against the righties. You'll probably end up with a .285, 25+HR and decent R+RBI's out of those 2 spots (OF and UT). I would also bench Desmond except to include him in this platoon since he hits LHP'ing pretty well and he'll get some steals. And with Crawford, Ichiro and Hanley you'll still be competitive in SB's while having a chance in the other categories.
