Free Agent 3B

Postby wkpdpack » Sun May 01, 2011 3:50 pm

Yikes! Sandoval out 4-6 weeks. If I can't land a CI through a trade, which free agent should I grab?

Rivera
Hannahan
D. Lee
Loney
C. Johnson
Helton
G. Jones
Kotchman
C. Jackson

Not many great choices, but hopefully someone can hold down the fort. Please tell me your top 3 options in the order I should grab them.

Helton
G. Jones

And then it's really tough... d. lee has the ability but will he turn it on? Perhaps so.

I would go with D Lee and Loney (solid, but not sexy) first.
I would also take a look at David Cooper, and try to catch lightning in a bottle (I know he was not on your list, but he may be available in your league).

Help with mine:

Lee seems like the best out of that rag tag group.

Either Helton or Lee for short term. But I'd be constantly looking for an upgrade.

I'd have to say Helton first, with Lee a close second.

Think I'd go:
1. Lee
1a. Loney
2. Helton
Yeah that's a lot of crappiness you're looking at there. Sorry about that dude. I recently traded for Lee in one of my leagues and I think he'll be decent.....

toss up between lee, helton and loney here also.

short term prob helton, but lee usually turns it around after 1st few months so keep an eye on him. if he starts to pick it up next few days then i think u should ride his bat. even when panda comes back, its not like hes a great CI, so i would consider trade for a more potent option somehow

Yikes, that's a thin FA group...

Helton and Lee have the ability, although neither is exactly the most solid CI. I like Kotchman, but he won't get enough playing time platooning for Johnson, who Maddon seems to favor.

If there is no limit on transactions, I'd suggest just trying to ride who's hot and hope for the best.

Thanks for the help on mine. :-)
