Longoria returning; drop Chipper or Dunn? WHIR

Postby hooligan1 » Sun May 01, 2011 10:50 am

So Longo's coming back on Tuesday as I'm sure most of you know. I have replaced him with Chipper and quite frankly, not only has he been one of my best players through the first month, he's been worlds better than Adam Dunn who is killing me. I am seriously considering dropping Dunn and sliding Chipper into my util spot. Am I an idiot for giving up on Dunn this soon? Any thoughts on how either of these guys perform going forward? Thanks in advance!!

You would be insane to drop Dunn. You don't have any other alternatives beside dropping either Chipper od Dunn?

Don't drop Dunn for the love of god! I wouldn't have a problem with dropping Chipper, but you should have a 5th SP or something else you can drop.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

Can you post your roster? I have to imagine you have someone worse than Chipper you can drop, but, if all else fails, he's not a horrible guy to dump in your league.

You're smoking crack if you're even THINKING about dropping Dunn in ANY format. :-S

If you don't have any worse options than Larry Jones, then he would be the one to drop.

I'm a huge Chipper fan and hope he keeps it up all year so he can go out with a bang. But if I had to put money on it, I'd say his knee won't last the whole year.

I'd like to see your roster as well. Hard to drop Chipper right now, but if given those two options only, I'd drop Chipper over Dunn. Chipper won't make it the entire year without going on the DL a few times. Then you'll wish you had kept Dunn.

Agree with the above. If those are my two options, I drop Chipper.

Thanks for the responses so far guys! It's appreciated.....

Roster is as follows:
Wieters
Tex
B. Roberts
A. Cabrera
Chipper (Longoria)
Choo
Ichiro
Granderson
Dunn

Valverde
Nunez
Farnsworth

Verlander
Lester
Billingsley
D. Lowe
Nolasco
Wandy R.
Jurrjens
Harang
Matusz (DL)

As you can see, it's tight right now. 20-man rosters. Not carrying a bench batter at the moment. Don't really have any SP's I consider droppable. Want to keep three closers. I guess it's Chipper then......

I'd dump Lowe or Nolasco before dropping Chipper. They are both easily replaceable when needed.
