Jeff Francoeur Thread

Am I crazy for thinking that Francoeur can give a .285, 25 homers, 90 rbis, and 10+ sb season this year? After his 07 season in Atlanta I remember reading about his offseason workouts and how he had bulked up to over 240 pounds. I drafted him hoping for 40 homers and he just had a colossal collapse. Now he is down to 207, and is hitting .330 with 5 homers, 19 rbis, 3 steals, with the hot hitting Alex Gordon and Billy Butler in front of him for RBI opportunities.

Oh and Jeff turned a magical 27 years old this year.

He's definitely had the potential. He proved it his first 3 years in the league, then dropped off from there. It seems like he's comfortable and found his groove in KC and hopefully he can keep it up. Its hard to believe that his 2 best seasons were so long ago (2005,2006). He's already hit 29 HRs, already had an 100 RBI season, and he's hit above .290 in the past, at ages 22 and 23. There's no doubt he can get near those numbers again if he stays comfortable and consistent and at the age of 27, he is still young enough to turn his career around. With his powerful arm he was a show to watch when he started with the Braves and even though he isn't on my fantasy team, I hope he keeps it up.

Also only OPSing around 750 vs. righties... not horrible but not what I'd be looking for in a "hot month". He's always hit lefties reasonably well, in fact he's the type of guy that can be an OK 1-day pickup in daily leagues if you have a bunch of guys with off days on a Monday/Thursday and an open roster slot, and the Royals are facing a lefty....

The average will drop but he'll still remain productive. It's pretty sad that my AL only team has been relying almost exclusively on the production of Frenchy and Fuld :-P
