Big Trade. Vetoable??

Postby wingman3110 » Sun Apr 24, 2011 10:33 pm

Looking at pure value and for the rest of the season is this following trade vetoable or should I let it go thru?

Team A gets: Joe Mauer, Chase Utley, CJ Wilson, Jonathan Sanchez, and Matt Capps

Team B gets: Dan Haren, Mike Napoli, Michael Cuddyer (now 2B elig.), Dexter Fowler, and Alexi Ogando

Plus a little side not here...Team B also has Hamilton, Feliz, and Rolen to go along with Mauer and Utley who all are on the DL. Let me know what you guys think.

why exactly would you veto this?
there's no guarantee on Mauer and Utley... they could conceivably have set backs and miss months.

There is a time to sell low on guys, especially injured guys. Let team B gamble... if he's right he's gonna win that trade big time.

How is that even close to vetoable? One team is plugging holes where he's got injured players, one team is gambling that those injured players provide a greater return over the full season. Both are trying to make their teams better, both are taking risks, both are using their personal views on the players involved... I would be really curious what an argument for vetoing would possibly look like.

Well out of 12 managers in the league, 7 voted against it....people just dont seem to understand that who knows what Utley and Mauer will be like down the stretch

Example #49292 of why league veto is terrible.

yeah, as was said to me once, the only real veto-able trade is one where there is clear cut collusion, just because other managers do not like it does not mean it is not good. It is not their team, it is the teams of the people making the trade. I mean were not talking about a Lincecum for Inge trade here, that might be a veto trade.
