Also, should I cut bait on Carlos Pena? I'm not a big fan of his but I wouldn't mind waiting until he caught fire to hopefully trade him for an OF. I am currently short an OF, but there are not many names in FA worth picking up.

Depending on how speculative/risky you want to go, Sands could be worth a pick up -- though it's equally possible he could flame out given that it's his first shot at the bigs.

Otherwise, I'd just stick with Pena. His power will come around. He crushed a couple against San Diego earlier in the week that would have been HRs if not for the wind at Wrigley.
