Is his name pronounced Lube-key? That's how I've been pronouncing it in my head when I read it.

That is a great question. This site: http://www.pronouncenames.com/pronounce/luebke says you pronounce it "lip key"
This site: http://www.thenameengine.com/name.aspx? ... bke&cat=65 says "LOOB-kee" That second site refers specifically to Cory, so probably that is right.

Looking forward to hearing from wrveres or another friars fan

^ This. Initially I always thought it was ma-TOOSE, but I've only heard his name pronounced MATT-uss by announcers.

I'd love to think I'm right about Lube-key, though. ;-D

is there a chance that some announcers are just idiots? :-?

Luebke seems like a german name, and germans would pronnunce it "Lübke" [ˈlyːbkɛ].
His name is very similar to a german city Lübek [ˈlyːbɛk], Luebek in english.
You can listen to the city's pronunciation here:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... BCbeck.ogg
Still, he is american so the only way to know for sure if someone asks him.

edit: I just checked and he was born in Maria Stein, Ohio.
Maria Stein is most definitely a german name.
