All-Decade Team

Postby bxshock718 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 2:00 pm

If you had a real-life MLB team and you could have your choice of any players in real life to fill 17 spots- 9 position players, 5 starters, and 3 relievers- what would your team look like? The goal is to win as many championships as possible from 2011- 2020. The catch is, you have to include at least five players with rookie-eligibility on your team.
At first, I was going to go for a win-now mind frame- winning the championships from 2011- 2015 but decided on a future mind set- winning the championships from 2014-2020.

waaaaaaay too ambiguous to even think about making a list. Also, I understand an affinity for prospects, but what about young established guys like Justin Upton, Matt Kemp, Tim Lincecum, Jeremy Hellickson, Buster Posey, Andrew Mcutchen, Clayton Kershaw, David Price, Tommy Hanson, Neftali Feliz, Jay Bruce, Ryan Braun, Joey Votto etc.... you really think those guys will be non-factors in 5-10 years?

That's not true at all. In what way does not making an all-decade team where at least five prospects are required make them non-factors? Just because I put Tulo on this list, does not mean I think Hanley will be a non-factor. I think that Upton will be very very good, probably better than Trout will be, but maybe not. I personally, prefer Santana to Posey and Mauer. Hanson I don't really like. One of either Kershaw or Price should've made my team over Matusz. Bruce I'm iffy about, and who exactly would you put Kemp, Hellickson, Kershaw, Feliz, or Votto over? Remember that at least five prospects are required.
