Silly or Stupid or Good move

Postby Dr Answer » Mon Apr 18, 2011 11:11 pm

Team is desperate for power - have speed in excess - 5x5 roto

Been offered Jason Heyward for Juan Pierre

Is Heyward really more than a standard 25 hr guy ? I know it's crazy to say - but Pierre wins or automatically puts a team in top 3 in steals category.

Should i be looking for more like a 30+HR guy ?

Thanks - validation is always welcome - people knock Pierre but his numbers are pretty solid when he plays FT

Yeah, you've got to grab Heyward if possible. He should start heating up relatively soon. All sorts of upside.

Fantastic deal for you. Juan Pierre's on the wrong side of the curve for a speed-only guy. If you're speed-heavy, Pierre has zero value to you, since he doesn't contribute anywhere else.

I agree with the above poster. Pierre could lead in steals, or like most SB contributors on the wrong side of 30 he could tail off in production. Unlike Pierre, Heyward is a legit 5 tool contributor. You can expect 80-25-80-15-.275 from him, but he has the capability to be a 100-30-100-15-.300 hitter and that potential could be realized as early as this yr. I would take Heyward over Pierre any day of the week, or season for that matter. If you're leading the league in SB, with Pierre only having 4 of those, Id say you're fine in that category and could use someone that helps and contributes in all of them

Yeah since you can afford to lose the speed I would jump on that trade. Heyward will contribute much more than Pierre. I think Heyward has the potential to be a power guy you're looking for. I say good move!
