I know I know its a weak question, but I am in a deep deep league where we start 2 catchers weekly. (15 team league)
My number 1 horse is V-Mart, then I need to start a second guy. I drafted Lucroy $2 but he has been on the DL and has just been activated this past week, I also claimed Hanigan $3 for my bench, and been using him as my spare. Surprised that the REDS are playing Hernandez more then Hanigan to begin with........so I am a little burned there.
Lucroy should be the man in Brewer town.....
Who would you keep I need to waive one?
Lucroy $2 - probably will get more playing time then Hanigan, and thats all that matters or Hanigan $3 - like the upside in Cincy's ball park, and that lineup
the big kicker hear is if Hernandez goes down (which is likely) Hanigan would be gold in that lineup, I agree that outside that big 4-4 day after opening day, Hanigan hasn't been much.
The other factor in this is we use a DH spot for our lineups and they player has to have DH services (min. of 10 games this year) or 20 games last year. I currently have 3 DH eligible guys, (V-Mart/Butler and Dan Johnson) my current setup has V-Mart @ Catcher since we start 2 there, and Butler @ 1B since we start 2 there, (A-Gon is my other 1B) and I have Dan Johnson @ DH, who has been down right AWFUL to begin this season. But I have no other options.
I could dump Johnson and move V-Mart to DH, and play Lucroy and Hanigan for my 2 Catcher slots. weak I know. but its a 15 team league where we start the following 2 Catchers 2-1B, 2-2B, 2-3B, 2-SS, 5-OF, 1-DH, 8-P.
So out of these 3 guys, who would you dump? C - Hanigan $3 C - Lucroy $2 1B/DH - Johnson $1
Down the road I have Brennan Bosch who is 6 games shy of DH eligibility sooner the better.
In that case, dump Johnson and keep the other 2 for your 2 catcher slots.
Turn V-Mart (who I have as a catcher; we use utility spots, not DH) into a DH and rotate your 2 guys.
Not that big on Johnson, although his value is boosted a little bit with Manny going into sudden retirement. I think you should be able to drop him without fear of him getting scooped. Just keep an eye on him and if he starts to heat up you could always make a move.
