Drop Soriano? Who to pick-up...? (WHIR!)

Draft Rafael Soriano late on the feeling that he'd get more starts from Mo, thinking it's not worth waiting for July/Aug and I'd rather free up the roster space for a better prospect. Trying to decide which of the following to grab:

FA Batters
B. Boesch (OF) - Looks good, but is he full time?
L. Morrison (OF) - Looks solid
J. Gomes (OF) - Avg sucks, but pretty hot...
M. Brantley (OF) - Avg and steals are nice
J. Willingham (OF) - Avg is awful

FA Pitchers
J. Cueto (SP) - Coming off injury, but prospects seem good
J.A. Happ (SP) - Peripherals look good
F. Garcia (SP) - Looked good saturday, still Freddy
B. McCarthy (SP) - Looks to be rounding into form
F. Carmona (SP) - Outside his 1st game looks great
M. Boggs (RP) - Looks like he'll take the STL job
S. Santos (RP) - Looks like he may take the ChW job
J. Rauch (RP) - May lose the job this week...

My roster is as follows, standard start (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF, Util, 3 SP, 2 RP, 3 P)

C - McCann
1B - Pujols
2B - Walker, Utley
3B - Reynolds
SS - Rollins
OF - Gardner, A. Gordon, Zobrist, Sizemore, Hart
Util - R. Martin
SP - Kershaw, Buchholz, Garza, Baker, E. Santana, Morrow, Greinke
RP - Soria, Papelbon, R. Soriano, Bailey

Thoughts? With Sizemore back and Hart on the way I'm leaning towards McCarthy, Carmona, Boggs, or Santos for SP/RP depth. However, Gomes and Boesch both look like nice rotational options...

I'd go with Carmona. The Indians are hitting, and as you said, he has been improving since his first start. He seems like the best "sure thing" of the bunch.

Even with heart coming back, you need to get zobrist out and take a serious look at either

L. Morrison (OF)
J. Gomes (OF)

Gomes has a much, much better eye at the plate this year, and his power is real, while morrison is likely 20ish max on that department, however he is a strong multi tool talent, and hey if you pick these guys up you can always trade away some OF depth.


Also, there have to be better options than garza for SP. He's a mediocre pitcher playing for a worse team, here are some serious suggestions for cheap quality SP's that would add serious depth to your staff.

Charlie Morton (low k's, but keeps balls in play, 2nd highest rate of Ground balls)
Chris Narveson (bit of control issue, but that comes with high k's for the most part)
many of the back end texas starters, ogando,holland.

Justin masterson is a strong option as well, I've watched him pitch, he has the ability.


In other words, pick up some of that great OF depth, move some of it if you want, but there are plenty of good starters still out there.
