Need help quick, WHIR drop Pagan for A.Hill?

Postby BigRy » Sat Apr 16, 2011 2:06 pm

I play in a 5x5 roto league with 14 teams

here is my current roster

c-posada
1b-youkilis
2b-beckham
3b-prado
ss-a.ramirez
of-cargo
of-mccutchen
of-abreu
util-kendrick
util-gordon
bench-pagan

pitchers
burnett
garcia
cain
narvesson
zimmerman
rp-rauch, walden,putz
Dl-ubaldo, phil hughes, andrew bailey

dont have hughes dl'ed yet but i will soon as ubaldo comes off
I considered dropping narvesson but im behind in strikes mostly because of Hughes so I am going to roll with six starters for awhile
I dont want to drop Rauch until i absolutely have to so the timing to drop him and pickup Hill isn't right IMO.

So, it leaves me down to dropping either Pagan, Kendrick(not my first choice to drop) for Hill. I feel I need the power boost Hill could give me and he appears to be heating up as we speak and Pagan is off to a slow start, bats sixth and plays for a real bad Mets team. Not sure how good of value he is right now

Thoughts, please leave link!

Thanks,

Ry

I think Pagan may be valuable with the SBs, and Narvesson is less proven. I'd drop one of the two. If you are ok in SBs without Pagan, then I say grab Hill for the power addition.

Can you PM me really quick on this trade idea: My Stanton, Bruce and Fuld for Crawford and Danks ... my team is in my most recent post. cheers.

i like pagan.. he will be batting 2nd most of the time, should give you runs and sbs and a decent avg.. i think he gives you more in all areas except hrs.. id be inclined to stay w pagan...

its also tempting to drop Narvesson but I am behind in strikes so going with six pitchers would catch me up. Right now Pagan sits on my bench lately. I have been fortunate to get all four of his stolen bases when I play him. Its tough for me to let a talent like Hill sit on my waiver wire. I believe he will have a good season. I usually like to act on these situations then figure it out as time goes on. Nothing like extra assets in fantasy baseball.

I guess my next question is drop Narvesson for Hill? and worry about strikes once one of my hitters proven unworthy?

Be patient with Pagan. The Mets are moving him all over the lineup, and Manager Terry Collins is hesitant to run with his team not playing well. You have plenty of good middle infielders, but Pagan is a top-30 outfielder. Give him time, and reap the benefits of the .280-.300 batting average, 10-15 homers and approximately 30 SB's you'll get.

Good luck! ;-D
