FA Pitcher Pickups

Postby smb5187 » Sat Apr 16, 2011 11:27 am

My pitching staff is as follows in a 12 team mixed.

Beachy
Verlander
Vazquez
McClellan
Liriano
Chacin
Drabek
Dempster

Britton, McCarthy, and Lohse are in the free agent pool. Obviously Vazquez is not getting it done and has lost some stuff. Which of the FA should I grab and for whom I just can't seem to decide one any one of these guys.

You sure there are no better pitchers in the free agent pool? The three you listed are rather uninspiring...streamers at best. I might wait for one of your opponents to drop a SP off to a slow start. There is always an idiot or two in any league.

That said, Britton is the best of the three.

Those are the top pitchers in my eyes. The other pitchers of note are

Chen
Francis
Josh Tomlin
Pineda
Zimmerman
Livan Hernandez
Litsch
Carassco
Blackburn

So the pool of SP is rather small. And people dropping good players is how I got dempster. I was going to grab Floyd but he was snatched away just as I was going to grab him

Just my opinion and you can take it however you like:

JEFF FRANCIS.....
I think this guy is legit. His minor league stats were very good. He dropped his ERA over a full run from 2005-2007 and WHIP dropped considerably too. 2009 wasn't the best, but we was out all of 2008 and WHIP still wasn't terrible. He's still young, and he's healthy. Heck, the Royals are looking to be the surprise of MLB this year and they haven't even called up Moustakas/Hosmer yet!
