Kemp for Crawford? WHIR

Postby RyeWhiskey » Fri Apr 15, 2011 5:04 pm

So after some back and forth trade offers, the other manager sent me straight up:
HIS Carl Crawford for MY Matt Kemp

This is a 10 team, H2H league, with 21 keepers. Stats are as follows:
Hitting: R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS

My lineup:
C - Wieters
1B - Berkman (Morales on DL)
2B - Kinsler
3B - Prado
SS - A Ramirez
IF - S Drew
OF - M Kemp
OF - C Gonzalez
OF - M Holliday
Util - J Heyward
Util - C Rasmus
B - J Werth
B - M Reynolds
B - M LaPorta

So you can see that I've got a plethora of great OFs, so I'm not gaining anything in terms of position here. It's a matter of value.

Should I deal Kemp for Crawford?

your outfielders are all great.. Kemp looks like he's going to put up career numbers however Crawford is going to be top 5 fantasy material.. i'm not putting him down 13 games into the season, and I think you'd benefit from the trade. he's offering you this because he's afraid 2 weeks into the season and sees Kemp is on a warpath. but you'll benefit later IMO.

I would take this deal. I own kemp and am loving his production, but there's no way that after two weeks we can assume that Kemp will outperform Crawford for the season. It's certainly possible, but my money's on Crawford for the season. He's been a 5 category stud for years, and boston will eventually start hitting. Sell high.

Can you help with mine?http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=427468

I would take this deal because of Crawford's ability to dominate 5 categories. Crawford's production should actually be greater this year on one of the best offensive teams in baseball (I hate to say it because I am a lifelong Yankees fan). Do it, theres no way you will regret it especially because of the other power hitters you have.

The only way I would turn it down would be if you have Kemp as a cheaper keeper (but I am assuming you don't since you did not mention this in the post).

Thank you for your feedback on my trade by the way! good luck.

Agree with everyone else - Crawford will have every opportunity to excel in Boston. Do it! ;-D

I see Kemp and Crawford as being very close to each other in the grand scheme, especially as keepers.

Crawford has a slightly better career avg and dominates in steals, but Kemp owns the power numbers in comparison.

But looking at your team, and an OF with Holliday and CarGo, you're good for power.

Take the speed and grab Crawford.

I currently have Kemp, and I love him. Keep him for now so you can get his current hot streak.

I think I'm the minority here in keeping Kemp. Sure Crawford will probably have better overall numbers then Kemp in a vacuum; but looking at your team, you don't have a huge Bat sitting at 1st or 3rd. You do have lots of guys chipping in some stls. That all being said I think the balance and power of Kemp makes him a better fit for your team then Crawford.

I have Crawford on my squad and although he's not currently producing...he WILL and I'm sure he'll be better than Kemp once he gets started. With that said, I'd take Crawford!!!

Good luck and thanks for your input regarding my team.

I think Carl will rebound. Kemp cooled off early last year before diving so i might take this.
