Sitting your pitchers in CBS

How do people handle it if a manager wants to bench a player (bad matchups, slumping)? The Commissioner product seems completely brain-dead regarding minor-league and DL spots. They require a "team total", which makes sense, but that number needs to cover your DL and minor league spots as well.

Active Roster- 0/21 (min/max)
Reserve Roster- 0/2
Minors - 0/2
DL - 0/2
Team Total: 27

Assume everyone has a full Active + Reserve. In this setup, I can't bench a player unless I've got a Reserve guy I can put in that slot, or I drop a Reserve guy. I can only have 2.

If I increase the Reserve max (for argument's sake, let's say to 5), I can keep the Team Total at 27- so far, so good.

But if I am not carrying a full Minors Roster and DL, I have 23 players. CBS thinks- Great! You've got 3 empty Reserve slots, and you're under the Team Total! Acquire away! Basically, I can carry more active players.

How the do people handle this? It's basic behavior on Yahoo and ESPN. CBS support acts like I'm from Mars when I ask them about it.

If you acquire over the limit, drop them.

Too much room for problems with daily lineups. Also, we're using FAAB, so acquiring extra players throws that all out of whack.

It would be a PITA but you could have the pickups processed by the Commissioner. Then you could make sure it comes out right.

When the league is setup, you can allow "Reserve Spots". This is the same as Bench in ESPN.
