Which Catcher?

Postby CubsFan4Life23 » Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:50 am

12 team keeper league (we keep 4), H2H 5x5 (obp replaces avg)

Arencibia is testing my patience...Hanigan, Olivo, Ramos and Avila are available as well as J Montero...Are any of those guys worth more than JP or do I do without a Catcher for the time being and pick up Montero...

My Team:
Arencibia
M. Cabrera
Prado / Hill
Tulowitzki / Desmond
R Zimmerman DL / McGehee
Pence / J Upton / Rasmus / Pagan / Gordon / Berkman

Hanson / Cain / Bumgarner / D Hudson / Harrang / Garza / Kennedy / PeavyDL /

I punted saves this season, just so you know.

Thanks for the help!! Leave a link. ;-D

I would be fine with JP but I also wouldn't have a problem if you just played which ever catcher was hot. I think JP has the most upside and should have the better year than any of those on the WW. I like Ramos but until he starts full time, i wouldn't worry about him. I personally wouldn't go with out a catcher just to have a minor league player on your team. I mean if I thought Montero was close to being called up it might be a different story but i don't get the impression that he is going to be in the majors any day.

Thanks...I agree, but it is hard to swallow when JP does not play everyday even though the upside is there...I appreciate the help.

I'd keep JP over those other options.

I like Avila, but I think you should entertain the option of dropping someone else and keeping both on your team. IMO, one of those catchers, if not both, will have a really good yr and you would benefit more from having both on your team than keeping a backup OF that you play once a week. Honestly, do you really need that many OF on your bench, especially considering that they are mostly "upside" players just like your catchers? OF come and go, and I am betting you could drop one of them and forget about them the rest of the season, the way a couple of them are playing Ill bet they wont be touched on the WW for the next couple weeks anyways.

help with mine?

I stick it out with JP. If you got room keep JP in order to stall with Olivo, I think I might do that if I had to make a change, C is weak all over, no one else should be making that big of a splash
I guess there was no curse... Boston just sucked for 86 years...

Drop Desmond and pick up Avila. Avila plays against all RHP'ing and JP catches 3 specific Toronto starters. Add them together and you'll have a very productive catcher and desmond doesn't do much for me. He's effective if you don't have a SS but he's just on your bench.
