A big attraction to Votto is his baserunning and upside for steals in the teens, which I don't see from Morrison.

With a good average, plus OBP, and just moderate power numbers, a man boob-less Billy Butler might be a better player comp.

I was actually going to say that he becomes the player that we all thought Billy Butler was going to be. But it really depends if he's able to hit mid 20's HR's. I think he has the power despite recent mediocreness.

So, I guess that Tim Hudson is a "cheaper" Roy Halladay, since he gets the wins, ERA, WHIP, but not the strikeouts...? ;-7

I equate the ability to draw walks with average-ish minor league power as something that Votto seemed to do before he got called up. They're almost an identical body type with similar looking swings. They really look like they've come out of an almost identical mold.

And yeah, I kind of agree with your sarcastic Hudson comment actually...?

It was only half sarcastic. It just seems to me that if you take away an entire facet of someone's game (ie - Votto's speed, Halladay's strikeouts), everyone in baseball is just a "cheaper" version of someone else. I like comparing oranges to oranges, not tangerines to oranges. :-)

So yeah, I've been in the bandwagon for a while now.

I drafted him in my newborn draft at the All-Star break in '88. Suck it.
