Elvis Dropped

In a 10 team H2H.

An impatient owner dropped Elvis Andruss. I have the #6 waiver. Do I go for him or pass? Who do I drop if not the obvious choice of Drew?

Might as well go for him, but I'd still roll with Stephen Drew and try to trade Andrus when/if he heats up.

I like Andrus over Drew, but its no slam dunk. Andrus will give you nice run numbers, no HRs, and a ton of steals. Drew will give you a steal every-other-week, but respectable homers from the SS position. You do have a couple sources of SBs already. Compare last year's stat lines: 88/0/35/32 compared to 83/15/61/10. The real question is, where do you need more help ... in the SB category or the HR/RBI category? If you answer this question with the former, I'd go with Andrus. If you answer the later, I'd keep Drew. Another option is to drop your lowest pitcher (I'm not sure what your scoring structure is so I'm not sure which one) and pick up Andrus hoping to use him as trade bait one day. The problem is that having Drew and Andrus on your roster at the same time is really a waste of roster space since SS isn't really a high scoring position anyway, so you'd like to flip him pretty quickly if you claim him to trade him. I'd probably lean more towards deciding between Andrus and Drew. Andrus has had the better season to this point, and is part of a pretty potent offense. I'd probably lean towards claiming him and dropping drew.

Which Upton...that makes quite a difference.

I'd drop one of the OF's, you can get them all the time.

I have BJ Upton for some power and SB's. The waiver deadline passed and Andrus is sitting as a free agent now. I didn't pull the trigger becasue I keep going back and forth and right now,Elvis's BA scares me. I think I want him, though. Final thoughts?

Don't get caught up in the Elvis Andrus "speed" thing. While he will be a good player, he's not Stephen Drew. Last year was a good indicator that while he is a great fielder, I don't see him being more than a .300 hitter @ best with 30 steals.

Drew is in a lineup that is protecting him well this year. Bloomquist is off to a torid start and Young and Upton are hitting well. Drew is in the 4th spot, and as long as he keeps on hitting, Gibson will keep him there.

Hold your stance on this one. Don't get Elvis. His OBP freaks me out, but not in a good way.
