Pick up Morrow off waivers??

Postby Mr. D » Tue Apr 12, 2011 8:52 am

SP-Morrow was recently put on waivers (free on 4/13 or use # 9 waiver pick for me, still on DL so may not need waiver pick)

12 team H2H Yahoo 7x7 non keeper (I'm new to FBB)

Grab him or not? And who to drop? (thinking about replacing Belt soooooon & picked up Clippard recently for ERA/Whip/K:9)

I think stashing Morrow is a good idea. Might sound nuts and I'm not sure if you can do this through Yahoo, but I would look at dropping Bay.

If not you could temporarily drop Clippard. I don't see much value for him in a H2H.

2 DL spots in our league, so dropping Bay doesn't open up a spot yet. The Clippard idea has merit, any thoughts on dropping belt instead? I feel like I want to give the kid some time to see where he goes from here, I heard he had been hitting the ball pretty well, putting it in play and it has not been falling for him, hate to cut him loose a week or two early?

Morrow is ranked pretty high as a SP on my software rankings, so def want to add him if it makes sense.

Appreciate your help!

I think if Belt continues to struggle he will be sent back down to the minors. I would keep him around if he's playing. He's not going to sit the bench much in San Fran. He is also more likely to get scooped up off waivers than Clippard in my opinion.

Use my #9 waiver (out of 12 teams) to try & get him or see if he is a FA in the morning (4/13)??

Do not drop Bay, he should be returning by the end of next week. Let Belt go, thats what I'd do.

I agree with dropping Bay or Belt. I just dropped Belt to acquire another pitcher (H2H-12 teams). I dropped Ardolis Chapman to acquire Morrow and I have him stashed away.

I currently have Drabek as well. As soon as Francisco gets back (hopefully), the Jays will be really nasty.

Morrow is a solid pickup and stash in any league. Total strikeout machine. If he builds off last season as we all hope he does, he'll be a very high end SP to own.

I think Morrow will be gone by the time your #9 priority comes around.

Amazingly Morrow was there at the #9 Waiver spot

Dropped Clippard - Got Morrow off the WW
Traded Belt for Cuddyer (before he went 4/4 last night)

Had assumed Morrow would not be there and was working on plan B, but I think I'm better today than I was yesterday especially with Cuddyer creaping on 2B elig soon and Pineda seemed lights out last night ......his 2 starts vs. Tex & Toronto line ups make him look pretty solid!

Here's where I stand today......some more power at an OF position would be my next target I think, any thoughts??
