I think it was Olney on Mike and Mike this morning (to be honest was dead tired so don't remember), who was saying he thinks the issue with Dice-K is fastballs. If I recall, he was saying that when Dice was in Japan, he threw a ton of breaking pitches, gyro ball, etc. to set up the fastball, but since coming over to the states (and especially recently) he keeps trying to be a fastball pitcher, and with the weak fastball, he gets crushed.
Don't see much of the Red Sox games (whole West coast thing), so anyone agree with that, or is it just Dice-K is pitching like crap overall?
whats wrong with you guys? really not cool to make fun of daisuke and pretty messed to rag on the guy, especially when he cant even go home to his native country. besides, i thought his start was pretty good considering...
...that he was on my opponents team for my H2H matchup, and therefore is pretty much my teams MVP this week! i love you DiceK!

That's all he does in the majors, too. He throws a ton of crap up, hoping that hackers will swing. But most major leaguers are good enough to lay off his breaking stuff and hit his bad fastball (or they just one of the many walks he gives out). It's amazing to me that he's even managed to be as successful as he has so far in this league.

I'm actually in one of those bizarro leagues, but I didn't go after him because losses are really valuable and I thought the Red Sox were going to, you know, be good this year

Now, that's FUNNY!!!!!!!!
Hate to say it, but he needs to go and bring up someone from Pawtucket.......
His contract prevents him from being sent down to the minors, and they can't trade him. Even if a team was willing to take him, you'd be lucky to get a used bag of syringes for him (can't take credit, heard that on the radio this morning).

his slider and splitter have been crap, so he's been relying heavily on that mighty 88 mph fastball of his (that doesn't have nearly as much cut as it used to), complimented by an 85 mph change up. Slider cutter used to be his bread and butter, at least in was when he first came over.
Matsuzaka is historically so much better on extended rest.
