Chris Sale rotation or closer potential?

I play in a 10 team total points (H2H) league with deep rosters. I drafted Sale and have him stashed on my IR. I'm in no rush to get him playing time but I'm curious what the odds are that he becomes a closer or a starter at some point this year. Obviously an injury to Thornton might put him in the closer role, but what if someone in the White Sox rotation gets hurt or struggles?? Thoughts? Advice? Will he be in middle relief all year? Thanks!
