Yea, the problem is it's been ONE WEEK! Relax buddy! There are 162 games.

That being said, to improve, I'd look to replace Javier Vasquez. There's gotta be better options out there. Can you post the best of the hitting and pitching WW?

Otherwise, as you pointed out, your team is great on paper!

Good luck! ;-D

Firstly, I made some trades ... this is my new team:

C K. Suzuki
1B A. Gonzalez
2B G.Beckham
3B A. Rodriguez
SS D. Jeter
OF C. Gonzalez
OF A. McCutchen
OF J. Ellsbury
UT M. Stanton
UT J. Bruce
UT P. Konerko
BN T. Snider
DL G. Sizemore

SP F. Hernandez
SP T. Lincecum
SP T. Hanson
RP C. Perez
RP J. Walden
P B. Lyon
P B. League
P W. Rodriguez
BN M. Bumgarner
BN R. Soriano
BN J. Vazquez
DL S. Strasburg

So basically, I need to consider who to drop for another good SP. Here are some options of who is available to pick up, though I can't do so until late sunday night due to our moves cap of 4 per week:

Zach Britton
Cueto (DL though)
Porcello
Niemann
Dice-K
Braden
Randy Wolf
Mike Leake
A. Harang
D. Holland
B. Zito
J. McDonald
K. Correa

Mike Leake

J. McDonald
K. Correa

I'd rank those SP in the following order based on upside:
*Risky pitchers have asterisks

Mike Leake * (rotation competition)
D. Holland
Zach Britton * (rookie)
J. McDonald * (hasn't started in a long time)
Cueto (DL though) * (hurt)
Niemann
Porcello * (might never get his former glory back)
Zito
Harang

The others I wouldn't even touch. So the safest guys are also the most boring ...and probably will be on the waiver wire later as well.

Can you grab Cueto, stash him on your DL, and then take one of the others? Maybe a good plan is to grab Cueto for the DL and then take Leake. This way, if Leake loses his spot when Cueto comes back, you still have a SP.

Good luck! ;-D

That's a great call. We only get 4 moves per week, so the downside is that i would be left with 2 moves after making those on monday.
But might be worth it.

Webb is also available and on the DL. Better to stash Cueto or Webb?

Obviously it'd be hard to stay away from Webb, as he's an easy top-10, maybe top-5 SP when healthy. But latest reports are that he is only 70%, and still in pain and a long way off.

Cueto, meanwhile, should be back by the end of the month.

My main reason for the Cueto/Leake suggestion is that you get two decent-to-very good starters. Unless both get injured, you'll have a guaranteed starter.

Good luck! ;-D

Hey,
I say the same thing, I think my team is good on paper but I worry because I'm not doing too well...BUT everyone is telling me the same thing, that its only a week in and I gotta wait it out, so definitely give it some time...your team looks absolutely fine and I'm sure they'll produce sooner than later, so good luck!

Also, I really like Britton...watched him pitch in Spring Training and loved what I saw and I just picked him up the other day (only thing I would worry about is the fact that he's in the AL East), I like Holland a lot too, and Leake would be around 3 for me...I don't think Harang should be shrugged off with the pitcher's ballpark that he'll be in a lot but that could go either way.

Lemme show you what I mean, heres my team:
good on paper but im 8/12 right now

C Geovany Soto
1B Ryan howard
2B Brandon Phillips
3B Casey McGehee
SS Jimmy Rollins
OF Alex Rios
OF Chris Young
OF Vladimir Guererro
Util Ben Francisco
BN Maicier Izturis

SP Roy Halladay
SP Chris Carpenter
SP Ryan Dempster
RP Jordan Walden
RP Sean Burnett
P Tim Hudson
P Carl Pavano
P Zach Britton
P John Lackey
P Carlos Zambrano
P Aroldis Chapman
P Brandon League

Good, and definitely better than 8th place. I could see improving your 3B and OF situations, but otherwise the team looks good. You're absolutely right, and I feel like this is the advice we're giving out on an hourly basis these days---- it's a 162 game season!

Good luck to both of you! ;-D

Personally I would get rid of Jeter. He is enormously overrated and has been playing like garbage lately. Aren't there any better SS you can pick up off the free agency market?

I know the owner who has Alexei Ramirez is a big Jeter fan .... maybe I could get Alexei in a package? Thoughts?
