CarGo for Crawford? WHIR

Postby Xylo » Wed Apr 06, 2011 10:00 pm

I'm in a 20-team points league and took Gonzalez late in the first round. I guess this owner is getting impatient and already thinks Crawford's season is over or something because he's really pushing this CarGo for Crawford deal. As far as the points go, in this league, Crawford averaged 0.7 points per game last year, while Gonzalez averaged 0.9.

I'm honestly not high on Gonzalez and don't really see him repeating last year exactly. I think he's still a solid option, but I expect less than his '10 numbers. I feel like Crawford's best baseball is on the way.

I guess I just feel somewhat biased because I'm not really a CarGo fan and I don't really buy into the hype. Any advice would be excellent and just leave links and I'll offer my own advice. Thanks!

This trade comes down to your team's overall balance and need. CarGo and Crawford's homerun and stolen base total will be a wash. Crawford will get you more steals but less homeruns, while CarGo will give you more bombs and less stolen bases. Their totals for both categories would wash each other out, so it depends on your team. Could you use more steals? Or is more power the way to go?

Personally, I would take CarGo. While we discussed the homerun and stolen base total would be about the same, CarGo will offer more RBI, better batting average, and better OBPS.

Keep your original pick. Crawford was probably available when you picked CarGo, so stick with it. I see no need to change. You've got a legit 40/40 candidate. And the reigning National League Batting Champion. AND HE PLAYS HALF HIS GAMES AT COORS! SWEET.

It's close, but CarGo's extra power gives him the edge in a points league for me.

I agree with Gonzalez on this one.
