Better fantasy catcher - Soto or Martin? Who to trade?

Postby justnotcricket » Wed Apr 06, 2011 7:44 am

I am considering trading Soto or Martin + a SP or OF to get Ryan Braun or Carlos Gonzales. The team i would trade with has both the mentioned OF with Wilson Ramos as its only catcher along with a shocking pitching staff of only 6 people with only 5 SP. I was thinking of offering Soto + Chris Young or Soto + Dan Haren for Ryan Braun or CarGol. Am i giving away too much? Should i offer Hellickson, Shields or Myers as opposed to Haren? Would really appreciate your thoughts. Many thanks, JNC

I don't think you are giving enough. C are typically thought highly of and suitable replacements can usually be found off the WW. If you are looking to get 1st round talent, you usually have to give up something pretty valuable in return and this deal doesn't have it. Now you do have two 2B and you could offer up Cano for either of those OF straight up. That of course is assuming that he needs 2B.

As for who is better, Soto is easily better than Martin.

The trades you're thinking of doing will almost certainly not happen. If you want a top outfielder like Braun or CarGo, you're going to have to pony up.

And as MaudDib said, Soto is much better than Martin.

Thanks for the advice aguys, this is my first season so all very new to me. I have sent a speculative e-mail to my league asking for sensible trade offers for Cano and/or Soto....watch this space i guess. I will definately be coming back to the forum should any offers come through. Cheers, JNC
