Ellsbury or Prado?

Postby ivyunited » Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:34 pm

Hey Guys-
So I'm new to the forum, so let me know if i'm doing anything wrong (i.e. leaving anything out), but basically, im in a 7 team espn cumulative points league (i'm pretty sure it's standard points scoring with 1 point per base, rbi, run, steal, and pretty much everything except for 10 points for win, 5 points for save, and -5 for a loss).
Anyhow, i was just proposed a trade from a player who has longoria, so he wants a 3B.
Here's the trade:
I get:
Jacoby Ellsbury
Heath Bell
Fransisco Rodriguez

I lose:
Martin Prado
Carlos Marmol
Craig Kimbrel

Here's my team:
C-Matt Wieters
1B-Gaby Sanchez
2B-Uggla
3B-Zimmerman
SS-Tulo
OF-Jose Bautista
OF-Heyward
OF-Michael Morse
DH-Konerko
UTIL-Prado
UTIL-Casey McGehee
UTIL-Juan Pierre
Bench-Holliday
Bench-Polanco
SP-Kershaw
SP-Tommy Hanson
SP-Ubaldo Jimenez
SP-Cole Hamels
SP-Scherzer
SP-Tim Hudson
SP-Gio Gonzalez
RP-Carlos Marmol
RP-Matt Thornton
RP-Craig Kimbrel
Bench-Daniel Hudson
DL-Andrew Bailey

Basically... do i do it? Thanks!

I would definitely make this trade. Ellsbury has been prone to injury but was a killer during spring training. Also, he has the potential to get 60+ steals and is surrounded by a massive Boston lineup. I'd say that Marmol is slightly superior to Bell, but not by much. When it comes to K-Rod and Kimbrel, I also find the latter to be a better closer but all in all I like your advantage with Ellsbury.

ok, so I don't care about prado's 2b eligibility or the slight downgrade in closers, because ellsbury can be that much better? and are the closers even that much worse? i mean, they'll all earn saves, and really their other stats don't matter as much as long as they do get the save (5 point boost). haha I'm almost trying to talk myself into this trade cause I'm on the fence at the moment...
any other input?

Its up to you basically. Personally I like Ellsbury over Prado this year by far, but thats just me. The 2B/3B eligibility is nice but its not like Uggla or Zimmerman are injury prone anyway.
