Would you snag Domonic Brown WHIR

Someone in my keeper league just dropped Brown. I wouldn't mind grabbing him as my aging OF is pretty weak after Kemp. He's also a young guy with massive upside who if he pans out could be a stud on my team for years to come.

Is he worth my #2 waiver? Or should I wait to see if he clears?
If I do grab him, who should I drop?

I was thinking I could maybe drop Capps, DL Brown, then pick Capps back up when he clears to hang on to my Nathan insurance policy

You've got it all figured out. Dom Brown definitely needs to be owned in a keeper and will most likely be worth your high waiver in the long run, especially with your weak/old OF. Capps is the drop, the only question is whether he'll clear waivers for you.

I agree, Brown is worth grabbing over Capps. And even if you aren't able to re-claim Capps, I don't think it will be a huge loss for you, compared to the potential gain in Brown anyways.

I am fine picking him up and stashing on the DL. I wouldn't use a #2 WW pick on him though. In an 8 player keeper league, he probably isn't worth keeping unless he comes back and tears things up the 2nd half.

I guess my main quandary was giving up my #2 waiver position for Brown who hasn't proved all that much yet. Is he the uber prospect I shouldn't be thinking twice about using it on?

I'm not sure Brown will reach top 100 keeper status by seasons end or will play for you ahead of Abreu,Swisher & Pierre. Having said that getting him off the wire or using a waiver pick isn't costing you much to find out. In a league where you only start 36 OF & have 8 keepers already he's not quite as valueable as deeper leagues or leagues that allow for more than 100 to be retained each season.

Even if Brown doesn't crack your top 8 keepers, I still think I take a chance on him. Sure there might be a better player to use your #2 priority on...but then again, you may just be holding onto it all year too.
