Playing the Bargain SS Game...WHIR!!!

Would you trust a SS combo of Yunel Escobar starting and Tsuyoshi Nishioka backing him up in a 12 team, 6x6 (HLDs and OPS) keeper league? I have Alexei Ramirez starting now (Escobar on the bench, Nishioka on the farm for now), but I have some needs elsewhere to address, and with the shallow nature of SS, I wanted to take advantage to upgrade elsewhere. Ramirez will not figure into my keeper situation this year, so this is strictly a move to improve this year. My team (keep 10):

C Miguel Montero
1B Joey Votto
2B Ian Kinsler
3B David Wright
SS Alexei Ramirez
OF Ryan Braun
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Andrew McCutchen
UTIL Adam Dunn
BN Jose Tabata
BN Yunel Escobar

SP Clayton Kershaw
SP Ubaldo Jimenez
SP John Danks
RP Francisco Rodriguez
RP Chris Perez
P Craig Kimbrel
P Jonny Venters
BN Daniel Hudson
BN Jordan Zimmermann
BN Tim Stauffer
BN Kyle McClellan
DL Adam Wainwright
DL Brandon Webb

Farm (all aren't close to they're limits yet, so I'm in wait and see mode on most):
Domonic Brown
JP Arencibia
Brett Lawrie
Brandon Belt
Tsuyoshi Nishioka

I'm considering trying something like Ubaldo+Alexei for Halladay, or Danks+Alexei for a SP upgrade, and calling up Nishioka with the extra spot. Just so that I have either 2 horses or 3 strong SP at the front of my rotation so I can play matchups with the rest of my guys. I feel like Escobar could put up similar numbers to Alexei this year, and maybe have a better AVG/OPS hitting near the top of that Jays lineup, and it seems like the prudent thing to do to take advantage of Alexei's higher trade value and the scarcity of SS.

Thanks! Leave your link and I will be sure to respond!

I would wait for Alexei's value to increase before you try and trade him. Although its a small sample size, he has been cold to start the season.

I agree completely here. I like the idea of trading Alexei, but his value isn't at the highest right now. Hopefully for you, he gets hot as someone else in your league who doesn't have a top 8 SS goes cold.
