10 team H2H 7x7 (AVG, HR, RBI, R, OPS, SB, TB; W, L, ERA, K, SV, WHIP, QS) Should I do this trade: I get: Brandon Phillips Joakim Soria I give: Dustin Pedroia, Matt Cain
Here is my team: C. Miguel Montero 1B. Paul Konerko 2B. Dustin Pedroia 3B. Evan Longoria SS. Hanley Ramirez OF. Matt Kemp OF. Andrew McCutchen OF. Shane Victorino UTIL. Pedro Alvarez BN. Luke Scott BN. Vernon Wells
P. Matt Cain P. Brandon League SP. Dan Haren SP. Jered Weaver RP. Craig Kimbrel RP. John Axford BN. Tim Hudson BN. Jonathan Sanchez BN. Gio Gonzalez DL. Brandon Morrow
I would reject this trade. I think you got good enough closers to compete on a weekly basis and are not the most difficult to replace. I never was a big fan of Brandon Phillips and I would rank Pedroia ahead of him this year. I think you need Matt Cain more than you need Soria.
Axford looked very shaky after his 1st start (okay, it was only 1 start with bad protection from the defense but Axford appeared from nowhere last season and he could be disappear to nowhere - J.Soria's job is secure, go with the safer option)
Cain is overvalued imho and could regress this season.
Kimbrel was named the official closer.
I would make that deal
It would be nice to know what you did with our advice - so please write a short reply
I would do this trade in a heartbeat if I was getting Pedroia/Cain.
Pedroia is better than Phillips by quite a bit in my opinion. The Baseball Cafe rankings support this, and Pedroia's MDP is also about 20 lower than Phillips. I think he has more raw talent and he also is playing in a ridiculously stacked line-up. The only question mark is whether or not he will re-aggravate his foot injury.
Matt Cain is a stud. He has been incredibly consistent over the last 4 seasons, and I see no reason to believe that he will not continue his success. Soria is obviously a top-tier closer, but closers are a dime a dozen. People will lose their jobs and you can grab cheap saves on the WW.
I honestly don't think this is even that much of a question. If I were you I'd stay away from this.
