AL-Only Pitching Help (WHIR)

Postby DaveG1079 » Sat Apr 02, 2011 1:46 pm

I'm in a very deep AL-only 5X5 league. Joel Pineiro is on the DL (granted only until 4/8). However there are some intriguing options available to swap.

Do I keep Piniero and his low K's or take a flyer on:
Brad Penny
Scott Kazmir
Freddy Garcia
Brandom McCarthy
Josh Tomlin
Doug Fister

This is a rotating reserve spot, but for some reason it's bothering me. WHIR

Thanks!

Sounds like Joel had a setback... I would only consider Penny and then Kazmir. It depends what you staff looks like.. If you are low on Ks then I'd consider Kazmir but not too confident.

Only play deep AL-only formats.

Thanks. This is an auction keeper league. I didn't spend a lot of money but my staff is decent.

SP
Trevor Cahill (low to mediocre K's)
Brett Cecil (mediocre K's)
Wade Davis (mediocre K's)
Gio Gonzalez (high K's)
John Lackey (high k's)
Eric Bedard (when healthy, very high k's)
AJ Burnett (high K's)
Justin Masterson (high k's)
Joel Piniero (injured, low k's)

RP
Joakim Soria (very high k's)
Jose Valverde (high k's)
Chris Sale (very high K's)

Maybe I need another reliever? There is nothing left though...and cannot pick up DL guys or minor leaguers as they are bidders. The best available is Jason Frasor.

Is Aaron Crow avaiable? I like him as a candidate to pick up saves when Soria gets traded. Similarly, Mike Adams.

Interesting. I just grabbed Crow. Most prospects were taken. I swear he was drafted, but I guess I was wrong! Thanks!
