rate these pitchers

[Spartans Rule]

1. Mussina - no reason to think his numbers will change from the past few years.
2. Santana - huge upside.
3. Millwood - he wasn't terrible last year, probably didn't justify his draft position but there's some upside here and not much risk.
4. Lee - dominant in the minors the past few years and very solid in the majors when called up last year. A star in the making - the guy who said he "sux" is an idiot.
5. Affeldt - has great upside like Lee, but has been more effective in relief. Needs to show he can manage a game and avoid blisters as a starter.
6. Hampton - he's back, but just not a great roto pitcher. Beware the ugly K/BB ratio.
7. Lieber - injured again. You really have to wonder about him, but if healthy he should be a nice source of wins.

Overall I'd be pretty happy with that staff.

Millwood's the right pick to swap for a decent closer.
Santana's the real deal, but still working back from elbow surgery, so moving him and Lieber for five months of Prior would be about right. If that deal doesn't happen, dump Lieber for Carpenter. I would't take Garland over any of your guys.

Affeldt and Lee are big upside guys, and, as noted earlier, Hampton finished strong last year and seems to have recovered from the Coors disaster. Overall, your staff seems OK (particularly if you get that second closer).

I may put Gibbons and Dave Roberts into the Borowski to get either Sabathia or Contreras. Will that work?

If you have another steals guy, put Roberts in the deal.

I'm rather high on Gibbons this year and I wouldn't move him.

I have Beltran, Kaz, and Reyes for steals, so i'm fine with dumping Roberts. I'd pick up Tike Redman (another steals guy but with better avg and other cats) to replace him. I would have Beltran, Berkman, Floyd, and Dye as my starting OF if I traded Gibbons. Should I do it?
