Zambrano or Nathan

Postby LOS_METS » Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:04 am

I've been offered Heyward for Zambrano and although I feel that it is a good trade, I'm not sure if replacing Nathan with Zambrano is a good idea. Zambrano has RP eligibility, but is in the starting rotation this year, which makes him very valuable in my opinion and Nathan, although a terrific closer when healthy, is coming off surgery and Im not sure what to expect. The guy who proposed the trade is very thin at the closer position (Wilson and Street). Should I just accept the trade and slot nathan in as my no. 2 behind Soria or would it be wiser to try and trade Nathan to him?

Without seeing your roster or knowing anything about your league I feel 100% confident in saying yes to this deal. From a pure value standpoint Heyward blows the doors off of Zambrano. I'm not sure why you find C-Zam's (SP,RP) eligibility so enticing. He's a SP, not a reliever and I personally would already have Nathan in there as your #2 RP, making the shift you talk about insignificant. I am 100% confident in Nathan and Soria as your RP pair. Why does it matter that the other guy is short on RP's? Zambrano IS NOT a closer!

Do the deal. ;-D

well, I've always valued starters over relief pitchers because my league has innings quality starts and wins scored higher than saves and k's and since Zambrano has RP eligibility he can slot in as my closer, which could potentially mean more fantasy points from that position.

I'd really have to see your league settings and roster in order to give you better advice. But from a pure talent standpoint, I stand by what I said earlier.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I think I'm going to make the trade!

Take this deal and run... it's a steal in terms of value. I wouldn't even worry about who is replacing Zambrano at this point, but I think Nathan will have a solid season as he returns from injury.
