Is Pineda worth a waiver claim? WHIR

Postby Guzman24 » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:19 am

I'd like to add another young SP with upside to bolster my staff as I missed out on the two I was targeting at my draft - J.Zimmerman and J.Hellickson.

Do you think Pineda is worth blowing my #2 waiver on or should I wait to see if he clears and grab him as a FA. Not all that much quality shows up on the wire in this league and I'm not sure if there are any players I should be hanging onto my #2 spot for.

Here's my lineup.

12 team h2h 5x5 OBP instead of AVG and QS instead of W's 8 Keepers

C Montero
1B Votto
2B Kinsler
3B Young
SS Reyes
OF Kemp
OF Abreu
OF Swisher
UT Teixeira

SP Price
SP Verlander
SP J.Johnson
RP Cordero
RP Nathan
P Bumgarner
P De La Rosa

BN J.Santana
BN Slowey
BN E.Santana
BN Capps
BN Nova
BN Kaaihue

Thanks for the input on mine.

As far as this goes, I wouldn't. People do irrational things, I'd rather save my waiver position for an impatient owner who drops someone after a bad week or two.

Wait it out. And if he clears, drop Slowey with the quickness!

My thoughts exactly. People get impatient early in the season when guys don't produce as expected...take advantage of that and pounce then. I'd wait this one out and see if he clears waivers and pick him up as a FA.

Thanks for helping with mine

I would wait. The #2 waiver is very high and I'm sure someone will panic on a better player. Probably a pretty good chance that Pineda clears waivers as well. I'd hold for now, your SP is fine without him.

Agree with the consensus - hold onto your #2 waiver for later. However, if Pineda does clear, grab him immediately in place of Slowey.
