It's hard to envision Prior pitching for the Cubs any earlier than May. He got a second opinion about his right Achilles tendinitis Saturday, which is a clue to how badly matters are going, and learned nothing new that would explain why his inflammation has recurred this week.
''Today I woke up and I can't move because my back is killing me,'' Prior said of a new ailment he believes will quickly subside. ''I just slept on it wrong. [The first homestand] is probably out of the question. We had tentative dates. Right now, we're not putting a timetable on it.''
...
"I had some stiffness in my elbow and shoulder, but everything is fine,'' Prior said.
NO...NO....I am not listning....he is fine...He will pitch and carry us to the promised land....
Thanks for ruining my sunday morning willie.....

England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.
I knew that I should've taken Pedro in the 1st...the rest of the article looks even worse than the part you excerpted. It sounds like Dusty is really freaked.

As much as I hate to say this and hope that I'm wrong, I look for Prior to have a bad year because of this injury. Achilles injuries are notoriously slow to heal and a pitcher depends on his legs for power. If his achilles hurts him he may alter his throwing motion and that could lead to an arm injury. I hope I am wrong, but if you haven't had your draft yet be wary of picking him. If you do draft him and he tanks this year, blame only yourself-you've now had Prior warning!
I'm pretty bummed about it for the Cubbies' sake. I had him last year and he REALLY cranked out some numbers. I passed on him in fantasy though. The ankle thing came out a couple of days before our draft and I was inches from going for him anyway. I am very relieved that I didn't!! He still could be a good pitcher though, once he starts playing, his value should get right back to where it was.
This is one of the few times that I am watching this situation form the outside. Usually I have a top pick that screws me by getting hurt. I almost dealt for him a couple weeks ago and I am sure as hell glad I didnt pull the trigger.I think it is seriously in question whether Prior will live up to his 1st round billing this season with this injury
