Need some feedback - 10 Team H2H Keeper

Postby northjersey78 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 9:56 am

We had been using a keeper format for years, but with 4 new owners we decided to redraft and start fresh - beginning next year we will keep 1 hitter, 1 pitcher and 1 hitter/ pitcher.

I had the 4th pick in this draft - we use 8 x 8 categories:

Runs (R), Doubles (2B), Triples (3B), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base + Slugging Percentage (OPS)

Wins (W), Losses (L), Complete Games (CG), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP), Quality Starts (QS)

C – Miguel Montero
1B – Adam Dunn
2B – Dustin Pedroia
SS – Troy Tulowitzki
3B – Pedro Alvarez
CI – Ian Stewart
MI – Derek Jeter
OF – Shi-Soo Choo
OF – Nick Markakis
OF – Nick Swisher
UT – Grady Sizemore
UT – Bobby Abreu
BN – Mike Aviles
BN – Matt Laporta
BN – Derek Lee

SP – Felix Hernandez
SP – Yovani Gallardo
SP – Matt Cain
RP – Mariano Rivera
RP – Huston Street
P – Jose Valverde
P – Jaime Garcia

BN – Jeremy Hellickson
BN – AJ Burnett
BN – Ian Kennedy

I really like this team. I think if you can get Sizemore to be 75% of his former stats that will be real value. I really think you have excellent pitching depth as well. Just work the wire for your injuries that occur and this will be a very competitive team.

I really like your staff and most of your infield. You have a couple very young and very good pitchers that should only get better with more seasoning.

I would really like this team in a 12 team league. In a 10 team league I like it, but I'm not sure it has the firepower to contend with some of the teams I've seen drafted in 10 team leagues. Love the IF, but you're gonna need some things to go your way in the OF. Very good core of pitchers, but a pretty big dropoff after Cain. I'd probably try and get 1 more stud pitcher and possibly upgrade 1 OF position, and then I'd feel much better about the team. I'd still probably say its a 7.5 or 8/10.

Good luck, and thanks for the feedback!

I just posted my 2nd team if you have a minute:

I think I may have reached a little based on position scarcity, especially since we added a CI and MI spot this year. I wanted Carlos Gonzalez at #4 but he went 1 pick earlier, so I took Tulo - I don't hate the pick, but it was more about SS being so thin. I took Pedroia for a similar reason because 2B is so thin.
