So my league is 16 teams this year and thus I ended up being weak at 1b and 2b (D. Lee and Wigginton). So I was offered Butler and Axford and I had to give up Markakis and Romero. I would rather have Butler than Markakis so that side makes sense, but I am hestitant to give up pitching depth by dealing Romero. I do need another closer as I have 2 setup guys and only 1 closer and Butler would give me a good 1b and then maybe I could trade Derek Lee for a 2b, but I am always scared if my SP's have injuries then I am left thin.
Please take a look at my roster and tell me if you would do this deal?
I GIVE Markakis and Romero I GET Butler and Axford
16 team Head To Head Redraft League (h,r,hr,rbi, avg,sb,ops,bb,2b,3b,k - W,L,SV,K,ERA,WHIP,HLD,QS,CG,SHO,IP)
I wouldn't take it. Markakis will be a lot better this year with the addition of Vlad, Lee, and Reynolds. Butler is very good, but he just has absolutley nothing around him. Plus, Ricky Romero is a stud.
I would do it. As you say, Butler is better than Markakis, so that is good. Axford is fair value for Romero, who I also like, and you need the closer. I imagine closers are tough to come by in a 16-team league, but there is always a break-out starting pitcher or two who goes undrafted and then performs well. Just watch your WW closely and be quick on the trigger.

I agree with this completely. I would do this deal also.
I would do it. Butler should be better than Markakis and although Romero is a nice pitcher, you do need the closer. Here's mine: viewtopic.php?t=425451
Pretty even deal. I can see Butler and Markakis producing similar numbers to one another (Markakis with a run advantage). Value-wise, Axford has better value than Romero, but I think in a league that also counts holds and in H2H, Axford loses a bit of value. I'd probably shy away from this one, unless you really believe Butler is going to break out but at best, I see him replicating 2009.
