Should this trade have been vetoed... WHIR 100%

Postby billycent » Sun Mar 27, 2011 11:30 pm

This trade I had pending was vetoed today and I'm pretty irritated by it and now the message board is lighting up w/all kinds of different opinions on it. Based on some of the other trades that have gone down w/out incident in this league over the past couple seasons I can't believe this is the 1 that gets the 1st veto ever in the league. While I agree I did come out ahead on the deal, that doesn't make it a horrible trade (someone always comes out ahead in a trade) but it helped both of our teams in the end as he had no pitching depth and already has several very low avg. high K types in his lineup. The trade was...

My Rios, Danks, and Gio Gonzalez for Ubaldo Jimenez and B.J. Upton
Leave a link and I got u right back.

I actually think you are losing the trade. Ubaldo's 2nd half last year scares me.

Doesn't seem vetoable at all.

That is a horrible veto.

And that is the reason why I don't think leagues should vote on trades. It should be up to the commish and only vetoable if collusion is involved, period.

Definitely should not have been veteoed. Seemed pretty balanced to me.

Trades should only be Vetoed when there is obvious Cheating! Gio could be a huge breakout guy, Ubaldo first half vs Ubaldo 2nd half are two totally different guys, and Upton vs Rios...I might lean to a close hedge by Rios but both are very talented.

Not sure what kind of league you are in that allows people to veto just "because" but sounds like this is a the start of something bad.

This is why the league voting on trades can be simply annoying. That was a balanced trade

I am in agreement with everyone else. Vetoes should only be used by the commish in the case of collusion between teams. I would explain your case to the commissioner and other managers and put the trade through again.

your thoughts?
