Another manager and I have dabbled in some thoughts.... We drafted last week.... Our tenth year in a keeper league wioth guys I played with in Little League. I am attempting to add a little more depth to my pitching..... In all honesty, I want to add just one guy.... He has Lester and Lily.... I'd like to go Lily and smaller, but he has put Lester out there. I know he likely wants to just flip aces, but I just got Lincecum and Lee as part of a pacakge deal where I had to lose M Cabrera and R Braun. It wasn't 2 for 2, but it was hard seeing those bats go.
Anyways, thoughts our discussions to date. See below. I will reposnd to any links. I happened to pick Young as a value pick in draft.... Had I gone pitching, I woudl have been feeling pretty good, but I grabbed on value alone feeling 3B was shallow and others would bring offers to me.
HE GETS: Lee or Lincecum, M. Young, J Buck, and M Pelfrey I GET: Lester, Lily, Hudson, Panda
* I know he come sback. Always does. I expect a counter to my counter.

I think I would be ok doing that deal with Lee in it. If it was Linc not so much. I worry about Lee staying healthy all year as he has had back issues over the past few years and those can come back at any point. Plus you get 2 more serviceable SP and a hitter in Pablo who has some decent upside.

I'd make the deal. I actually like Lester the best out of all of the pitchers in a keeper. He's younger than Lee and does not have the velocity concerns that Lincecum does (having declined 3 years in a row to a pedestrian 91.7 mph). Additionally, I like Panda for a rebound and would rate him as pretty near equal in a keeper league to Young. With these close but slight upgrades, in my mind at least, you get substantial upgrades to Lilly and Hudson. Take it and love it when Lester wins the Cy Young this year.
I like the deal a lot if you give Lee. Lester would be a great keeper, and Young and Pelfrey sketch me out this year anyway. Thanks for your help with mine
Just to a note of an earlier post........ Our league dictates that players can only be kept for three years... I was fortunate to have both.... Having drafted Braun as a rookie.... However, if you do not trade the player.... You lose them back into draft... Best get the max value you can...
It is set up to encourage trading.... Often you get a stud player in return, but in those cases, I could not get a Pujols, Tulo, or Cano back.... I had Hanley on my team. I had to trad down for lesser players, but I got some stock in more players back and some draft picks. Nonetheless, I look forward to some day netted them back.
