Epic Trade for Halladay - Yes or No? WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Sun Mar 27, 2011 12:38 am

Do I take this? a hit to my SP depth, but gives me a dominant 1-2-3. I could keep Halladay for three seasons starting in 2011.

Give: Wandy Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, Brett Anderson
Get: Roy Halladay, Jordan Zimmermann

12 Team H2H with 6 keepers

Unique sets of Stats: R, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, AVG -- IP, CG, W, L, ER, ERA, K, SV, WHIP

My Team (* means i throw them back at the end of 2011)

C K. Suzuki
1B A. Gonzalez
2B G.Beckham
3B E. Longoria*
SS D. Jeter
OF C. Gonzalez
OF A. McCutchen
OF J. Ellsbury
UT M. Stanton
UT C. Granderson
UT L. Berkman
BN G. Sizemore
BN T. Wiginton
BN P. Bourjos

SP F. Hernandez
SP T. Lincecum
SP W. Rodriguez
RP C. Perez
RP R. Soriano
P B. Lyon
P J. Venters
P B. Anderson
BN J. Vazquez
BN D. Braden
BN S. Strasburg (will soon be on DL and open up roster spot)

i would take this trade in a heartbeat.
1) Halladay is the undisputed best player in the trade.
2) Granderson and Anderson have both proven to be very injury prone over the past 1-2 years.
3) your outfield is already loaded
D) Wandy never really puts together a full season
5) Zimmerman's minor league track record and K-rate suggest he has the potential to become an elite starter, although perhaps only a run of the mill one for this season

but how in the world did you accumulate so much talent in a 12 team league??? I count 3 first rounders and another 2-3 2nd rounder type players

TAKE IT! Right now. Haha. And I agree, I wish I had that depth in the OF in my 8 team league. Hats off to you. But yes, you need to take this deal. Keeping Doc for three years far outweighs the benefits of a Brett Anderson. Also, Zimm could prove to be pretty real as soon as this year.

Help with mine??

Do it! Halladay alone would make this a good deal, but getting Zimm gives you an elite 1-2-3 AND you maintain your depth!

Zimmerman is just gravy. Doc is the meat, and worth it.

Absolutely do this!! and Zimmerman wont get more than 180 innings this year (see Strasburg last year) but he will put up legit numbers...
