Trade my 3 "prospects" for his Hammy? whir

Postby jnb125 » Sun Mar 27, 2011 12:18 am

Here's my roster:
12 Team Dynasty 5x5 Roto

C-Arencibia
1b-Miggy
2b-Cano
3b-Wright
ss-Alexei Ramirez
OF-Crawford,Choo,Stubbs
Util-Tabata
Bench-V Wells, A Escobar, EY jr, Peralta, Venable
SP-CC, Gallardo, Hughes, Hamels, Morrow, Pineda, Chacin, Banuelos, Montgomery,
RP-Nunez, Cordero, Bard, McGee, Walden, Meek, Joba

Im stacked on offense, I have a pretty good SP rotation, and im low on closers, but have plenty of closers in waiting. My question is, another owner in my league has shown interest in a trade where i send McGee, Banuelos, and Montgomery, and get Josh Hamilton in return. i thought this was kind of a no brainer, 3 prospects who havent shown their worth yet, for a bonafide top 5 OF. who i would probably try and flip for SP ace. good idea? am i giving up too much by way of prospects?

prospects vs bonafide top 5

they'll make more prospects

It seems like you have a decent chance of winning this year. If so, definitely pull the trigger for Hamilton.

so if i should def do the trade (and he accepts) should i keep him to use as a 3rd OF and use stubbs/tabata(or other bench players as a util, or do i have enough offense so that i should flip hamilton and try and get another ace for my staff to help this yr

It is a no brainer. I like your rotation, but I think it would make some sense to deal Hamilton for an ace if you can get one. Hamilton is as risky as they come in terms of injuries, so while the value is great, I'd look to move him no matter. What. See if you can get a guy like Lester or Weaver and you'll have an incredibly balanced team.

Take Hamilton easily. I like some of those prospects but you can't keep them over a stud OF that plays in the majors.
